Welcome to the weekend, my friends! Are you hanging out with me on Insta? If so, you’ve had a sneak peek at the newest member of the family. <insert all the sappy heart emojis here> Her name is Riley and she’s the sweetest beagle in all the world.
We adopted her from the same shelter where we found our Oscar two years ago. She’s 4 years old and we love her already.
ON THE BLOG this week: Slow Cooker Baked Beans are chock-full of bacon and beef, sweetened with molasses and then slowly cooked until thick and sweet. If you’ve been reading this blog for long at all, you might notice that I very rarely name anything “the best.” These beans? They really are that good!
Sweet and juicy with plenty of real peach flavor and just the right touch of cinnamon, this is the last homemade peach cobbler recipe you’ll ever need. This Southern Peach Cobbler is filled with fresh juicy peaches and then topped with a generous cinnamon sugar crust that manages to be both buttery and flaky while never becoming soggy, even after a day or two in the refrigerator.
What I’m CRAVING: This Tuscan Chicken Pasta from Tastes Better From Scratch caught my eye this week and it looks delicious!
My FAVORITE THING this week is this detangler brush. This brush is incredible! I’ve been using the wet brush for years now and this brush puts it to shame. I LOVE it. My stylist used it on my hair the other day and I immediately ordered it. I was thrilled to learn it was about the same price as the other. It works so well, I expected it to be 3-4x as much.
What I’m WATCHING: Honest Thief. Liam Neeson did a fantastic job as a reformed bank robber who turns himself in, only to be double-crossed by two corrupt FBI agents. (I’m not spoiling anything here, that’s in the Amazon blurb.) It’s a free watch on Amazon right now and I give it two thumbs up.
What I’m READING: Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. I think I may give up on the Hercule Poirot series. These books have been recommended to me so many times, but I simply can’t get into them. Should I keep trying?? Anyone else have trouble getting into these books initially and then fall in love with the series?
“They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” – Carl W. Buechner
Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
Mary
