Waking up early in the morning for work, looking after family, doing all house chores, such a routine often drains you at the end of the day. It not only causes fatigue, but it also decreases your workplace performance.
I have a 9-5 job, two kids at home, one pet, and lots of other familial responsibilities, so I know how it feels. My days in the office are busy, but I don’t consider them productive. Why? Because I’m tired most of the time.
I don’t feel active or energized. Yes, I do work all day, but it’s not really a learning experience. It is precisely why I’m always looking for ways to relax and unwind, things that can boost energy and workplace performance.
Thankfully, I’ve found a few morning starters that help me these days. Let me share them with you so that you can manage a similar routine with ease:
Exercise
First and foremost, you need to start your day with morning exercise. Trust me; it’s the easiest yet the most beneficial thing ever. Exercise can increase the number of endorphins in the bloodstream that uplifts your mood and boosts energy.
The great thing is that you don’t necessarily need to visit a gym to exercise. A little morning walk can suffice. All you need to do is take out a few minutes in the morning and go for a walk. Nature can not just relax your mind but your body as well.
Other than that, exercise also has various physical benefits. It can lower your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose level naturally. It is precisely why regular exercise is recommended to everyone with cardiac issues.
Herbs and Plants
There are certain allopathic drugs for boosting energy and eliminating fatigue, but it goes without saying that they come with multiple side effects. On the other hand, herbs and plants are exceptionally beneficial for the treatment of fatigue, stress, and workplace anxiety.
The best part being, herbs and plants have minimal to no side effects. They’re entirely safe to use. Here I have a list of some incredible herbs and plants that can help you have a productive day at work:
Peppermint: Native to the Middle East and European region, peppermint is a hybrid plant. It’s a cross between spearmint and watermint. Research suggests that peppermint essential oil can alleviate fatigue, boost energy, memory, and mental alertness. Thus, it’s a great idea to start the day by inhaling peppermint essential oil.
Medical marijuana: According to a study, cannabis can increase neuron activity and dopamine production in the brain. It is primarily why people often use it for increasing workplace performance. If you’re new to it, I’ll suggest you buy some cheap weed from an online cannabis dispensary. It’s safe not to spend more in the beginning.
Ashwagandha: Another beneficial herb to increase workplace productivity is ashwagandha. Famously used as an Ayurvedic remedy, ashwagandha brings along remarkable benefits for brain health. As mentioned in a study, it can positively affect athletic performance as well as cellular energy production.
Cut Back on Caffeine
Most people start their day with tea and coffee. Yes, it feels relaxing to have a cup of tea early in bed followed by a cup of freshly brewed coffee for breakfast, but do you know caffeine can actually contribute to workplace anxiety and stress?
Consuming higher amounts of caffeine can significantly reduce workplace performance and productivity levels. Have you ever noticed how 2-3 cups of caffeine make you jiggly and sweaty? It is for similar reasons.
Although caffeine tolerance level varies from one person to another. It is recommended not to take more than one cup of coffee or tea per day. Consuming more than one cup of coffee is a common mistake we all make at workplaces. It’s one thing that you need to ditch right away.
What you can do is switch to China grass or chamomile tea instead. They’re made using healthy herbs, without any artificial flavors or preservatives. Hence, they’re safe.
Never Miss Breakfast
A lot of people skip breakfast in the morning, mostly because of the lack of time. I used to skip breakfast as well. The reason is obvious. I used to sleep till the last minute, dress up in a rush, and lastly, leave the house without breakfast.
Here’s what I want you to know, it’s a brain-damaging activity. That’s right guys! I’ve read in various journals that not having breakfast can affect your brain activities negatively. It is mainly why breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day.
Your breakfast is going to decide what kind of a day you’ll be having ahead. Therefore, you must ensure to have a proper meal before leaving the house. In case you’re on a diet, you can skip lunch, but make sure never to skip breakfast. Is it too hard to follow?
Organize the Tasks
Last but not least, you must make a list and organize the tasks according to the priority. Of course, you cannot do everything in a single day, and not to forget, everything is not as important as the other. Take out a few minutes in the morning and organize the tasks for the day.
People usually get distracted by unimportant things in the morning, which consumes their time and drains the energy. All you need to do is create a list of tasks to do, and follow it throughout the day.
However, in case something important comes up, you can always re-shuffle your to-do list. It’s all about priorities at the end of the day. All the mandatory tasks should be done within the early hours of the morning. After that, you can perform other tasks that are time-consuming and not so urgent.
Simple. Isn’t it? Follow the tips and tricks mentioned above, and have a productive day at work. Also, take care of your sleep-wake cycle in order to stay fresh and energized throughout the day. I wish you good luck, my friends!
