Inspired by my Chocolate Covered Pretzel Fudge, this fudge tastes just like chocolate covered Oreos.

My kids went absolutely nuts over this treat the first time I made it and I have to admit that I had a hard time resisting just one more taste each time I saw the fudge in the refrigerator.

It’s such a simple idea–fudge with Oreo cookies–but sometimes I think the simplest desserts are the best ones!

Almost everyone I know loves fudge and I can’t think of one person who’d say no to an Oreo. This fudge brings them both together in the best way.

I like to cut our Oreo Fudge into extra small pieces, making them perfectly snackable. Chunks of Oreo cookies mixed with rich smooth semi-sweet chocolate make this fudge impossible for me to turn down any time it’s available.

Like the majority of my go-to fudge recipes, Chocolate Covered Oreo Fudge takes just a few minutes of effort. I like to make this fudge ahead of time, then keep it in the fridge for any time a sweet craving strikes.

Homemade fudge will stay nice for a couple of weeks when kept in the fridge, but we almost always end up eating the whole batch before then!

Oreo Fudge

I used semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted in the microwave, as the chocolatey base for this fudge. It can also be made with dark chocolate or white chocolate, if that’s more your style. (Fans of cookies and cream flavored desserts will love the white chocolate variation!) 

To make a gluten-free fudge, simply substitute your favorite gluten-free chocolate cookie sandwiches for the Oreos!

If you don’t have a microwave handy, this fudge is easy to make on the stovetop, too. Use a double boiling method and give yourself an extra few minutes to melt and stir everything together.

How To Make Oreo Fudge

These days, you can find all kinds of different flavors of Oreos on the shelves. I haven’t used anything but the classic Oreo cookie in this recipe but it would be fun to experiment with different varieties if you’re feeling adventurous.

Oreo Fudge Recipe

  1. Combine the chocolate chips, the milk, and the butter in a medium-size glass bowl and heat in the microwave for 90 seconds. Stir to combine and heat another 15 seconds. Stir and heat an additional 15 seconds, only if needed. There will still be a few pieces of unmelted chocolate in the bowl.

  2. Stir until mostly smooth with just a few flecks of unmelted chocolate. Add the extract and stir to combine. Stir the Oreos into the chocolate mixture, saving a few for topping. Press the remaining Oreos into the fudge.

  3. Chill until ready to serve. Slice into 1-inch squares. Store in an airtight container, separating multiple layers with parchment or wax paper. This fudge will keep nicely in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Make Ahead Dessert

I usually store homemade fudge in the refrigerator but fudge can also be kept in the freezer for several months. Allow it to thaw in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
